Spirit
A year ago, as Spirit turned 13, he began to show symptoms that were of great concern. His hind legs would give out from under him and he resisted walking at times. Just a few months before, he had been running 5 miles daily and had always been quite athletic. His vet recommended taking him to Good Dog Aquatics for hydrotherapy in order to increase muscle mass. The combination of swimming, massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture and a change in diet have transformed Spirit. He now appears younger, most people assume he is half his age or less, he is able to walk every day without problems and his hind legs have recovered their strength. A year ago I was concerned that he was reaching the end of his life. Today I know that he will continue to live a long and healthy existence.

Siena
Dear Luis and Mary,

Siena, Arthur, and I would like to thank you for all of your assistance and expertise in helping Siena recover from her ACL repair. When she started therapy, she was still not putting much weight on her leg. After 6 sessions with you, she is back to her enthusiastic self! She jumps up with joy, runs with wild abandon, and is not favoring her leg at all. We are now firm believers in hydrotherapy. Although Siena will never admit to loving her swim time, she did become a better swimmer with a stronger stroke. At her last session, she hardly splashed water at all and looked calm and focused while swimming. What Siena enjoyed most about her therapy was greeting Mary and Luis with jumps and wiggles and kisses. Thank you for lavishing attention on her and for teaching us how to do her home exercises. Siena will miss seeing you each week!

Thanks so much!

Lucy
Lucy has been the beloved pet of the Nies family for 9 years and recently underwent ACL repair. When she was a puppy, Lucy was malnourished and abandoned in a dumpster, but luckily was saved by the Nies family. She came to Good Dog to help her recover from the ACL repair surgery and to help with her mobility in general.

Hannah

Dear Mary and Luis,

Thank you so much for helping Hannah, our four year old dachshund, get back to living and playing like she should! It was early in the morning, two days after Christmas, when we discovered her paralyzed in her crate. It was a gut-wrenching sight watching her trying to pull herself around with only her two front legs. She was happy and wagging her tail. It was obvious that she did not understand how hurt she was.

Hannah ended up having back surgery that day to remove disk tissue from her spinal column. After surgery she was still paralyzed. Her doctor recommended Good Dog Aquatic, and said swimming would help her a great deal.

We were so impressed at the level of sophistication shown at your facility. Hannah enjoyed swimming with Luis and getting her picture taken by Mary. After just a few visits, Hannah showed significant improvement and began to walk again! Now she is running and playing just like always, and it is thanks to you. I would highly recommend Good Dog Aquatic.

Thanks again,

Nancy G.
George
George is an 11 year old Chow/ Lab mix with Cushing's disease, hip dysplasia, and a seizure disorder. He was having difficulty walking and going up stairs. Since he has been coming for aquatic therapy, he is now having fewer problems and seizures and going for longer walks. George's owner is very happy with his progress.

Coco
Coco is doing great! It's wonderful to see how much she has improved after only a few physical therapy sessions. As you may recall, four weeks after having FHO surgery on her left hip, Coco was still walking on three legs, refusing to put any weight on her left leg. After only two or three sessions with you, she was walking on four legs with barely a limp. After a few more sessions, not only was she running, but she even began jumping into my SUV - something the orthopedic surgeon said she might never be able to do.

Prior to working with you, Coco had become almost completely sedentary. I can't thank you enough for helping Coco get back to being a normal, active dog.

Jackie
When we first saw Jackie, she was in a doggy wheelchair because her hind-end was paralyzed by illness. She had just come to Massachusetts to live with her new family after being adopted. She had been sick for a number of months before that and during that time had learned to move herself around by dragging herself with her front legs.

Hydrotherapy allowed her gently to start to feel and use her rear legs again, and we designed a program of exercises to reactivate the pathways between her brain to her body and to strengthen her unused muscles in her hind-end. When she came to visit us this spring, she was able to get on her hind legs and help herself to tennis balls!
